Goal
As I begin this breeding program, I have spent a great deal of time researching pedigrees and studying the breed standard. And, after some time I have developed an opinion based on the standard of what a maltese should be, and this is what I hope to achieve in my breeding program.
In my opinion, a great maltese has a beautiful coat, correct conformation, sweet expression, good health and a beautiful outline. I think a lot of what really makes a maltese great are correct proportions to the structure. I find correct proportions to be very pleasing to the eye. There is a lot of symmetry found in the structure that gives balance to the dog as a whole. The movement should be fluid and the reach should be equal to the drive. Of course, to be a great show dog temperament is of the utmost importance. Being of aristocratic heritage, the maltese needs to show it–head up, chest out and fearless but affectionate as a lap dog should be as well as full of itself. A great maltese would also be one that produces itself consistently. Its stamp can be seen in its offspring giving you pups of equal quality or better.
Someday soon I hope to breed some great show dogs and great pets. As well as, have some good times at shows and fun bonding with my dogs.
